Calli + John Landry Wedding 3.16.19

From my hometown of Franklin, Calli and John fell in love and have 3 girls together. I met Calli through her sister, Cara, my dance teacher of 17 years. Calli has always been so kind, and I was overjoyed when she asked me to photograph her wedding day.

The rest of the day went smoothly, with only one little hiccup right before the ceremony began. Calli and her father were doing a first look in front of the beautiful church just minutes before she would walk down the aisle. Right when she tapped his shoulder for him to turn around, someone opened the front door to the church and (almost) cramped my shot. Thankfully I got them right back into the moment, and sent my assistant to go body block the door stopping anymore traffic. This was a HUGE lesson for me. Ofcourse, I KNEW I should’ve sent my assistant to block the door in the first place, but somehow it slipped my mind. I thought, why would anyone come out of the front door? that’s silly right? Well I learned that on a wedding day, ANYTHING can happen. There are no rules, and no one is ever following the right track, unless I’m there guiding them with every step. This was a very valuable lesson for me to think about the things that COULD happen, not just the magical things that happen right in front of me. Be two or three steps ahead, because the couple will appreciate it in the end.

Just as any wedding day, it was unpredictable in the best way possible. I was aware of the prep location, which was Haven Salon ( a small shop with lots of character in franklin) and that she worried it might be too small for pics. As soon as i stepped foot in the room, I was in AWE! Natural light was coming from every direction, and the decor was amazing. I fully reassured her that this location was perfect for all of her pictures. I had to work my magic and redecorate the room to only show the pretty stuff that could be featured, because in pictures less is ALWAYS more. then Then it was absolutely perfect!
